I worked on it briefly. The hardest part was separating the glued parts of the LAM without damaging them. We destroyed a sacrificial Insight device trying to find a solvent that would dissolve the glue but not harm the plastic. We could have continued but the DBAL-PL and slim adaptor was a path of less resistance that I chose to follow. One of my sons is an electrical engineer. He could easily have modified the LAM for IR and made it look like it came that way had we been able to open it without destroying it. This is not to say it can't be done. I may still do it in the future. But with another option available, I'm not very motivated.
