Anybody mounted a 9mm USP Standard Slide on a 9mm USP Expert Frame?

I'm thinking of getting a standard USP 9mm slide barrel assembly to use on my 9mm USP Expert frame, however even though I know it will fit and function, I have been told that a tiny bit of the recoil spring is visible forward, toward the muzzle when the standard slide is installed. Since I lack the possibility to test this before buying, I was wondering if anybody has both the Expert and the Standard and could swap slides and let me know? Would be a big help and thanks in advance!

The frames are the same.
By the time you buy the slide ($350) and the barrel ($250 and the recoil spring and assembly ($100), you are looking at $700, plus shipping, etc.. Might as well just get a USP 9 and be done with it and you don't have to mess with swapping slides. They are going for $750 or so now at several places online.

The laws here in Germany preclude that...
Yes you can swap both with no problems and I have done this several times. The frames are the same.

Please ellaborate. You're allowed to own an expert, but not a regular USP?

The expert has the same recoil spring assembly as the tactical. No need to swap it. It should function fine in a USPf.

Did the Expert frame cover the recoil spring completely when the Standard slide was installed, or was there about an 1/8 inch of spring still visible? Thanks for your help!

I'm sorry to hear that, sir.

If I recall correctly from my days there, the law restricts the number of handguns you can own at any given time. So if you buy caliber exchange kits (or in this case an extra slide) you still have 1 gun, but in multiple configurations. It's why HK makes a 9mm USP slide to go onto a USP 45 frame. You don't see that available here but common in Germany.
It's easy to legally buy a conversion set for a pistol for which you already have a permit, but to buy another entire pistol you have a lot of paperwork to deal with. I have a .22 conversion kit for the Expert that works like a charm and is very accurate. I have heard that mounting a standard USP slide assembly on an Expert frame produces this:

I never noticed anything out of the ordinary. I could and can swap frames from one too and from the other. No worries

Does this matter?
I'm hoping it doesn't matter regarding holster fit. There are lots of good holster choices out there for the USP standard and fewer for the Expert. Not that I need a holster for other than range carry, still it would be a drag to order a holster and have it not fit the Expert with Standard slide configuration.

I guess I will know soon enough as I decided to go ahead and order the Standard slide assembly, which should be shipping end of the month. Once I get it, I will post pics!
