Hi everyone,

Curious if there is any feedback available on this holster from IMI. I have a couple of Garrett Industries holsters that work for carry and range needs, but I'm in the market specifically for something with a retention button/lever feature to use while hunting. My USP .45 is my hunting sidearm, and I want to make sure it stays holstered if the grip snags a branch while climbing down from a tree stand or hiking through thick brush.

I've seen similar offerings from Fobus and Blackhawk, but they seem to only offer their holsters for the USP 9mm/.40s&w, likely due to police adoption. The IMI holster is available for the larger USP .45, which is why it caught my attention.

Has anyone used this type of holster before from any of these brands? Do these scratch your pistol and cause excessive wear or are they pretty much good to go like any kydex holster these days? I'm not exactly sure what kind of plastic these are made of...

Any and all feedback is welcome! Thanks in advance.

Any holster using a locking mechanism that requires the use of the trigger finger to actuate the mechanism is a bad idea.

Can you expound on that a little bit i.e. why it's a bad idea?

Wasn't there a dude on YouTube that shot himself by accident using one of these? A lot of classes post that these holsters are not allowed at their class.

I guess I can see it. However, in my particular case, I'd just be using it for hunting/outdoor duty. Would not expect to draw on a person in the woods or even bring it to the range for drills. Again, I have other holsters for those activities. I'm just looking for a simple OWB solution that will keep the pistol secured in the holster even if a thicker branch snags the grip.

I use one now and again, it really is much better than a Fobus, one-piece instead of cheap rivets and the paddle locks on to the belt tight... plus, for tgose of us who don't need the retention, they're offered with no dangerous button to push with your trigger-finger.

I ended up ordering the holster (the one w/ retention) direct from IMI. I'll keep everyone posted with a mini-review after I've had a chance to mess around with it a bit.
