She thought: "Hmmm, with this fine tool nobody will disagree with me in the Bundestag (like Senate) anymore!!"

She is OK for our gun rights in Germany, she does not want to take us our guns away. But some other parties want ("Die Grünen" are worst). And for civilians, it's already pretty hard to get a license for a gun, here.

PS: But she has to learn about muzzle control, it's pointing in a sensitive direction.

Pardon me. Dr. Merkel visiting the German Army in Afghanistan takes a look at a MP7.

In as far as I know she has a PhD in Physics or Physical Chemistry but I hope she keeps her finger of the trigger or oouch... that poor fellow

I have often wondered if she is somehow related to the famous gunmaking Merkel brothers in Suhl. Does anyone happen to know?

No, her father actually moved 1954 to the East form Hamburg / West Germany (Berlin wall was built seven years later) and he was a evangelical priest.
Also her maiden name is "Kasner". I don't think her husband is related either.
