Was considering getting a simple cerakote job on the barrel of my VP9. Just about like this guy here: https://goo.gl/images/76lXep

However, my local cerakote guy warned me that this isn't going to hold up under frequent use.

Has anyone done this to a barrel? Did it start looking like crap pretty quick? Or are the parts that "wear" not visible due to being under the slide?

Thanks for any help.

I just started cerakoting a couple months back, I haven't seen the wear issues. I am about to do my vp9 here pretty soon.

I would use the money to buy more ammo instead, the barrel is fine in black, that Red looked aweful!

I had my p30sk cerakoted, including the barrel. The action will create makes on it over time. Although cetakote is durable I think the barrel is the part most likely to mark up. I simply went with a distressed look.

You could keep it black, add the clean red to the trigger area but then distress the barrel with red and black. It would look sweet!
