I'm really wanting to pick up one of the sk models in DA/SA. I'll most likely go with 9mm due to cost and because they don't come in .45 but I'm really having trouble deciding which to pick up. I much prefer the look and feel of the p2000sk and if you could get it with a manual safety it'd be no question. The two other issues I have with the p2000sk are the sights and mag release, which I prefer as stock on the p30sk but I realize I can change these out at another time. I do wish one could get the luminous sights for the p2000sk. The p30sk grip surely fits the hand nicely but feels bulbous to me and I'm concerned with the texture. I have the HK45 and love it but the feel of the p30sk just doesn't do it for me the same way. I have read much on the pros and cons of a manual safety on a carry gun and think I'm OK with either although I'd prefer to have one, but I can't stand that it is ambi on the p30.

Anybody else in the same boat? And what did you choose? If I'm missing something to consider or if there is another DA/SA subcompact option I should look at please fill me in. The only other I had considered was the sig p250 subcompact, which I would get in .45 but again, no manual safety there and the DAO pull was awfully light. I've read all the threads on these but can't decide. Thanks for the input.

Hi Kobes. You could go rent both the P2000sk and the P30sk at the range and shoot them to determine which you prefer. All of the other things you mentioned can be changed out or added at anytime. Personally, I have the P30sk without the safety. I rotate between the P30 and the P30sk for my conceal carry. However, I'll be picking up either the P2000 or the USP Compact 9mm soon to carry as well.

Chose the P2000sk over the P30sk to replace my M&P 9c as my EDC just because of the reasons you indicated. I, also, prefer the looks and feel of the P2000sk. As you stated, the sights and mag release can be easily replaced. The external safety issue was a no brainer for me, as I personally can't stand them.

Give REAL thought to a H&K P30 SK w/ thumb safety. I ADORE and carry mine !!! If you don't mind poor customer service (when I dealt with then) and a bit of a wait (25 days) STEALTHGEAR USA make an AWESUME Holster.

I'd mirror some of what was said above and offer a counter to one point. I chose the P30sk V1 LE because I have big palms and short fingers. The large side plate on my palm side puts my hand in the perfect place. I chose a Stealth Gear Revolution bc it was simple, inexpensive, and I received it in 4 days.

Ultimately, if you handle both I feel like you'll just know lol.

I went to a local range, shot both the P2000SK as well as P30SK and decided to purchase a P30SK Lite LEM.

Love it. The Mag release being the same/very similar to the VP9 helps me a lot. It shoots like a full size pistol, even with the 10 round flush magazine inserted (weird, but true for me).

I will not have the opportunity to shoot either but have handled both repeatedly. The p30 grip just melts into the hand but I'm concerned about the texture for carry and it may just be the side panel/back strap combo but again it felt awkward. I think the p2000sk feels larger in the hand while it appears smaller, if that makes any sense.

Probably my biggest concern is the safety. I like the extra security but hate the ambi feature and it's kind of awkwardly placed for me on the p30sk and obviously not even an option on the p2k.
