Co-wittness or no?

1376 Views 8 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  jimmybuffett
I am trying to decide on a good optic for my USC now, as the stock sights don't cut it.

I was going to put on an aimpoint on there but would it co-wittness with the irons? The front one looks pretty high up, unless I get a riser or high ring/cantilever mount.

Any more ideas? Looks like it would get in the way on an Eotech for sure.

Personally Co-witnessing drives me nuts on HK weapons due to the front sight size. I wouldnt but thats just me :)
Yeah I don't think I want to co-witness either, but to see over the front sight I'd have to raise up the sight quite a bit, no?
Eh my EOTech on the factory rail works just fine with no cowitness :)
you could always go with a throw lever mount, that way if your optic goes bad, you can easily remove it and go to the irons.... just a thought... I, too don't care for co-witnessing with HK sights....

good luck
Seeing these always makes me wonder - why would you want co-witnessing at all? I like the fact that the claw mounts will still let you use the iron sights should the scope be damaged for whatever reason, but it's through a hole in the scope mount.

What's the advantage of co-witnessing besides the CDI factor?

Is it because if the battery or dot scope fails, you can still use the iron sights, just through the scope?
I don't WANT to co-witness. But if you raise the scope up enough that it doesn't get in the way of the sight, the reddot/scope would be quite high, lot more than I'd like above the bore.

Oops, instead of "why would YOU want co-witness", I should have written "why would ANYONE want co-witness?".

Sorry 'bout that.

I second this post, the EOTech works well on the USC/UMP. Just make sure you get a front vertical grip as well, makes it a lot easier to handle.
