Just traded for a hk usp 40 and while the gun itself looks great and feels amazing the barrel is pretty smooth I can see rifling grooves but not very pronounced. Is this normal for hk. The gun was produced in 2003. The outside shows a little wear and some slight smiles the barrel hood only has minor shine at the top. I'll put pics on later tonight.

Nah, you won't see the grooves like that james bond shot. Just slight bumps in a spiral configuration. Unless the gun has 100k rounds through it and is a rattly mess, it's a near certainty that it's in just fine shape.

Shoot it with pride and congrats on the trade. Not sure what you traded for, but you probably got the better end of the deal. :)

No worries Bro. I was shooting my AD date code USPc .45 today. it's my oldest HK and it's very accurate. I had a great time:biggrin: EDC rotation time for me. switched all my USPc's from V1 to V3. I like it.

Mine is also an AD date code. And after I cleaned it up with some trusty MPRO 7 man the thing looks brand new! I do belive I was worried about nothing. Now I gotta get some night sights and get ride of this LEM trigger kit

Congrats! The LEM trigger system is one of the best, ever designed. You might want to get it out to the range a few times before you change it. SA like pull every time. What's not to like?

After a life of learning on DA/SA &SAO revolvers then having to retrain on striker fired. I prefer the switch back to DA/SA I like the long first pull cause unless you really mean it you won't pull the trigger all the way and shoot someone you weren't supposed to.

I love my USP45 Compact...(AA Date Code)...The rifling does look smooth, but that is unique to the H&K USP line. I can't speak to other models, but I would assume the same. My 45 is dead on accurate...Fantastic weapon. Even a beatup H&K is still a good deal... I say you did ok on the deal. There is a local gun store near me that has a USP45 full size for sale used - 2 mags, box & paperwork for $699.....
