I was always under the impression that an SL8-1 was gray, and the SL8-6 was black.
I found a gunbroker auction description that says otherwise (as well as some other stuff I find hard to believe) and now I'm scratching my head.
H&K SL8-1practically new according to H & K : Semi Auto Rifles at GunBroker.com
