Dull Engraving on P9S Slide

790 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Never_Better
P9S 45 from SACO in excellent condition with the exception that the words on the slide "excel for SACO Arl VA 220208" and the Ser# on the left side with the "N" marking are brown and dull ..... I've cleaned the piston and cannot not change the color of the engraving. BTW, the engraving on the frame is bright like my other older pistols. Maybe because it aluminum and the other is stamped steel.

Can anyone suggest what I could clean the engraving without harming the finish? Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Ive got a few older SACO pistols just like you describe. Ive tried everything to "brighten" the engraving with no success. I'm afraid anything that would work would harm the surrounding finish.
Thanks Mark. The gun looks just great the way it is .... I don't want to take a chance and mess up the finish.

Rgds,

Dennis
