I took my 45c tactical apart tonight to install the LEM kit.
when I took the back strap off, theres a little copper coil that looks almost like a NFC antenna.
I can't find any information about it.
Can anyone tell me what its for and why its there?
I dont see it in any of the parts diagrams or in any of the videos posted.

Thanks

Removing rfid from your HK45. FYI - my HK45 (bought in Europe) does not have this. It must be an American thing ....

I could be wrong, but I believe HK was putting these devices in some of their firearms for a while as a way to ease to process of documenting/charting weapon information (make, model, caliber, serial#...etc) for departments and agencies who use HK as a service weapon. There was a similar observation made on the HK45 when some people started noticed a chip was implanted in the frame.

Might that be a transponder required by law in Germany? I thought Walther had some backstraps that had those, but not in the frame.

I belive I read somewhere that HK puts those chips in their pistol to keep track of rounds fired, department issued to etc etc. In case they sell them to a LEO or military.
