The Government of Estonia is expanding the program where they give their citizens an AK4 and ammo with the mandate for the recipient to cache the weapon for future use against an invading force.

They are also building up their official milita forces (not part of their 6000 strong Army) as tensions grow over a possible Russian incursion (a la the Ukraine) into their country if NATO is weakened or distracted.

Imagine a government that believes in its people so much that they not only trust them with firearms, they provide them.

And credibly effective ones too.

But wait - we fool ourselves into believing WE are the "free" country.

I haven't been to Estonia, but I'm reasonably sure I do not want to live there, free guns or no.
From what I understand the Baltic States are pretty nice. Determined to NEVER be back under Soviet rule.

I am half Lithuanian myself. So a bit conflicted that they were the ones who gave the German half of my lineage the most trouble during WWII. For the record my family emigrated before WWI.

Those are full auto firearms to boot.

Lots of people in the freed former Republics of the Soviet Union can't understand America's current gun control fetish.

They need to be handing out antitank mines, explosives, mortars/shells, remote detonating equipment, booby trap supplies, EFP mines, etc. Just having a rifle isn't going to cut it. Some modern equivalent WELROD's and other suppressed handguns would be nice too.

Rifles and improvised explosives can put up quite an insurgency as we've seen. Repel a mechanized invading force, not likely.

If you read the article it states the government is making continuous buys of all that stuff. Some of which I would imagine is getting cached around the Country as well. They are also training the militia in their use.

I would be more filled with concern for my family and country over possible invasion from Russia then happy to receive a free gun and its purpose to defend them.
Happy to buy my own weapons in Merica with its problems but invasion from a major foreign country is not one of them!
If Hillary wins the Russians won't have to invade. After 4-8 more years of the Dems we will have become an effectively one-party, socialist Country. So yeah...Merica!
