Disclaimer: I've done the search. I know RDTS used to make them (their website looks like it hasn't been updated in years but I sent them an inquiry anyway), I see that Title II Arms advertises one, although it's $180, and I've been talking with someone who is offering to fabricate one.

Just wanted to see if anyone knows of any other current sources for fake SD cans.

Have an Omega SD upper that I'm finally getting a trigger group for. Form 1 already filed. I want to get this thing tested out and, if any problems are found, resolve them before the stamp for the TPM can and SBR stamp come back. Not looking for anything pretty or anything that's going to live on the gun longer than it takes to test it, which is why I'm not really into that Title II Arms offering.

Any other suggestions?

ETA: Can't believe I've never registered for this forum before, have stalked it as a non-member for years and have a few clones, while my dad has a bunch of LNIB clones including a 91, 94, and SP89 and I love shooting them as well.

I have corresponded with Wade Bailey a bit on this subject. He told me that they hadn't tested their SD uppers with a fake can at that point, but he was in the process of acquiring a Title II Arms fake can to test it out. I haven't heard back from Wade on that, however, and it's been a couple of months. I do know that the fake can I got to go with my Coharie SD SBR does not work with my Omega SD upper, so apparently there is some difference in the barrels or the way the fake cans seat.

I have an omega SD and purchased a fake can from a fellow Pro member. The fake can did not work, but I have used a real SD on it that worked fine. I didn't have calipers with me when I did the test but the diameter of the fake can appeared to be the issue because I couldn't get it to seat properly with threads due to the SD shroud.

Remember if you do get a fake can that fits you need a different locking piece so that the gun functions properly.

I got a TitleIIArms faux suppressor and it fits fine on my Omega SD. I say buy the faux can and just dump it after you get your approval on the TPM SD can. That's what I plan to do, as there will be no need for it after the real can gets put on.

I made a post in the WTB section and got one from a fellow HK Pro member. I don't know what brand it is but they said that they had the threads cleaned up by TPM to work with the normal HK profile barrel. I plan on using it until I get my stamp back and then selling it. The form 3 isn't approved yet so it will probably be next year this time before I get to take it home.

RTG had fake SD cans that were set up for a different barrel contour, but the threads are correct. I bored out a few of these for members in exchange for a POF mag.

I don't see them on the site anymore.

Still happy to do it if anyone needs help.

Any idea who made your can?

RDTS replied back lightning fast and quoted me $200, but now I'm worried about the fit.

I do know that the final TPM will fit since I tried it on at their shop.
Honestly, not sure who made it. I bought it from a fellow HKProer and was told it was set up for a Coharie. However, since my paperwork got messed up with my Coharie SD SBR, I never actually got to try it with it, just with the Omega.

How does your gun fire with the fake can on?

Look, I get that you want to test your barreled receiver before you get your stamps back. Instead of wasting time and money on a fake can and standard locking piece (the fake can will cover the barrel ports so a standard MP5 locking piece must be used with a fake can), have you thought of just sending your barreled receiver to a HK smith for testing? I would think if you sent your barreled receiver to any of a number of qualified smiths here, they could install their can and trigger pack and test it. Many could engrave your information being used on the Form 1 on your receiver and touch up or completely refinish your barreled receiver. Since you have no interest in using the fake can, wouldn't using that money to send it to someone that could test it with a real can be better?

I don't know how familiar with the roller locked system you are. Most all the HK smiths I'm familiar with here have at least one, if not several SD cans and could test your barreled receiver. It seems to me sending it to Jeff, TPM, Joe or any number of smiths would be about the same money as the fake can and locking piece. Then if there is an issue the smith could address it then and there. If no problems are found, you'll know and you can wait for your stamps to be approved. Good luck with your SD project.

TPM is 15 minutes away, haven't you left yet? As suggested, bring some ammo. I would think they would have the rest that would be needed. Any issues found, I'm sure they could take care of them.

Actually got up there today and they were able to verify function and looked it over, everything looks good, apparently mine has none of the issues that were reported on other earlier Omegas. Thanks for the suggestion all, it seems so obvious now.

They'll be getting my business for a standard full-size and another SD in the not too distant future.
