If you buy a NEW USPC .45 V7 it will be LEM, but it will be the standard LEM which is the 8 pound pull. If you want the lighter LEM then you need to either special order which will take a long time, or buy the standard LEM V7 and send it to HK for conversion, or convert yourself.
If you look at the old variant chart it shows the V7 as being the old heavy DAO, but that changed a couple of years ago. Now, the V7 IS the LEM variant, just buy one that is from 20010 or 2011, and double check before you buy.
Check by racking the slide and make sure the pistol is clear. Lower the slide, pull the trigger, pull it again without doing anything. If the first and second pull feel the same, it is the old DAO and an 11 pound pull. If the first pull is light, the second heavy, then it is the LEM with the 8 pound pull and when you pull again without racking the slide, you are fully loading the hammer yourself and will have an 11 pound pull. Not much but you will feel the difference.
If you buy a V1 and the LEM kit, the kit will come with a new hammer axle which gets rid of the safety. Or you can retain the safety if you want to, choice is yours.
And yes, the LEM kit does turn a V1 SA/DA into a DAO. There is some wrong information above. The LEM has always been a DAO trigger, I don't understand how anyone can say otherwise since even HK says it is a DAO trigger.
From HK-USA:
"Developed especially for a U.S. government agency, the Law Enforcement Modification (or LEM for short), is a unique trigger mechanism created specifically to improve the trigger performance and reduce the weight of the Double-Action Only (DAO) trigger pull on HK pistols."
