I'm a long time lurker and new member on HKPro.com. I ordered a new MKE 94a2 and (not in California) with plans to make it 922r compliant.

I've worked on a demilled MP5 before but haven't done an out of the box conversion on this MKE. I found a good thread on another forum on the parts and build experience (I wasn't sure about referencing a silencertalk.com link), and wondered if anyone had documented the process here, with links to recommended resources and parts.

Any links for threads here?

Thanks in advance!

There is a YouTube video of somebody doing the blocking bar removal, search for it, but it doesn't help much. You can do this yourself if you are careful with a Dremel, it isn't rocket science, but if you aren't careful with that bit, you'll f-up your nice gun pretty quick. Go slow and test fit often. Or send it out to a smith to do. That is the only major thing to do. The 922R compliance is pretty much just part swapping. There are a couple sources for US made parts, see below parts links. You will more than likely need US made parts in the trigger pack, links below on re-assembly.

SEF trigger pack assembly (FA shown, your's will be semi, but you get the idea): http://www.hkpro.com/forum/hk-reference-library/116524-tutorial-hk-sef-pack-reassembly.html

Parts: MP5 Parts, HK94 Parts, HK 94, HK-94 Parts & Accessories, SW5 Parts, BW5 Parts, GSG5 Parts, German HK and POF Parts, RTG Gun Parts
More parts: HK Specialist - Home Page
Even more parts: HKParts | Heckler & Koch Genuine Parts - HKPARTS.NET
Parts (YMMV): Welcome to Black-Market-Parts - Home of hard to find HK style parts!!!

If you've got the A2, the grip and stock are welded together. I haven't cut one apart yet, but as far as I can tell there are four plug welds holding them together. The stock cap isn't a standard one, so if you were looking to save the lower, you might be able to cut away the stock cap from the grip, sacrificing the cap to be able to save the grip). BUT, if you wanted to use a US made trigger box, it won't fit in the MKE lower.

Many thanks for your help and suggestions. The new MKE 94a2 arrived and is in very good condition.

I'm in the process of 922r compliance and found the parts I needed between HKParts.net and RobertRTG.com. I've also spoken with my local smith about removing the magwell blocks as well as separating the stock (along with additional work). One of the blocks nearly fell out when I inserted the mag, and would be easy enough to tak eout, always nice to have a pro finish the well with the experience and correct tools.

I'll provide a write up of my experience.
