I just purchased and received my first HK today. Well technically I don't have pocession as of it yet thanks to NYC laws. But I was able to examine it at my FFL since I purchased it used thanks to Robert14's posting is WTS forum.

The Hk45 looks great with very little wear externally. I did breal it down to check the internals. Everying inside was very clean with one exception. I notice there are really small guide rails for the slide. The rear guide rail has nice little knick on it on one side. This small little rail seems to be part plastic and metal with the plastic worn out. When you attach the slide back on and not angle it perfectly it is very easy to hit the guide rail.

It looks like it is non replaceable component. Should I be concerned with this?

Totally normal. Mine looks like that too. I never worried about it. Logic told me it's just one of those things that wears out. The polymer frame has metal inserts in it in several places. It's just easier to leave the plastic around the rails leftover from the molding, than it is to just remove it. It doesn't cause any decline in function, so they (HK) probably just left them there. It's like that thin leftover piece of polymer on the left side of the frame above the trigger assembly. This is also just left over stuff that has no purpose other than HK didn't want to spend time/money to remove them.

Enjoy your HK.

Thank you for your resonses. I should have a little searching. I haven't been able to fire it yet so I panicked a little thinking about if that rail would cause a serious problem.
