Haven't really heard the term, but it describes the corrosive effect of Egyptian 8mm ammo fer sure. That crap turned my 1919A4 barrel, bolt face and booster a dull orange-red in 4 hours... and left actual pitting in 6 hours... about the time it took to get home from Stratford Hollow, New Hampshah.
Flash Pitting?
Can someone explain what flash pitting is, exactly? From the sound of it, I'm guessing its some kind of pitting near the muzzle due to heat? Is it common?
