I want to add some optics to my G36 conversion but don't think I want a close range optics but rather a medium to long range glass because I will add a tactical scope to my UMP conversion.
you should put an acog, that way you can put the trijicon doc optic on that and have red dot and 4x all in the same setup similar to the hensoldt dual optic.
I run a nightforce NST 2.5~10, it was pricey, well over a grand. But you cant beat good glass. The target recticle is great as well, awesome for fast aquisitions.
Any sighting system designed for an AR15 will be too tall for the G36 resulting in non-existant cheek-weld. The lowest option would be an Illiminated 1.5-5 Leupold Mk4 or VX3 in low rings for medium range or an aimpoint in MP5 ring for close range.
sight it in and see how it works, i think that it will work just fine seeing as the acog can mount on an a2 ar15 carry handle which is just as high if not more. they design the c variant for the option of having a diverse range of sights and optics. there is no one set optic designed for a g36 other than the hesoldt that i know of so as long as you keep the acog as far back on the rail as it'll go, you should be fine. the doc optic shouldn't add any more significant height. i have a ps90 the rail is super high and i have used the same acog and an atn red dot and an eotech all when sighted it work fine. the acog is killer cuz it holds zero, that's key.
