I'm looking to get a G3K style rifle. From what I've seen it looks like my best starting point is a PTR K3G pistol, which is currently out of stock. The only other options seems to be getting something with a longer barrel and cutting it down or a custom build. Are there any other clones out there currently (or recently) in production that havery the proper length barrel?

I'm familiar with the process, paperwork and taxes for buying and building a SBR. That part of the project will be pretty much the same no matter which route I go. That part I have covered, I'm just want to know which avenues other than a K3G should I be exploring. I'd prefer to start with a pistol so I can still shoot it while I wait for my stamp.

Hi, if you mean the K3P (couldn't find a K3G), then it's not a G3K sized weapon. G3K is based on a regular HK91 rifle that has shorter barrel. TPM does awesome conversions. It depends on what budget you have but you can find those out there. If you keep it as a rifle, you also can shoot it till stamp comes.
The HK51 would describe what you could do with the PTR pistol

I think you're getting your PTR's mixed up KOK, the K3P pistol has the 12.7" barrel while the PDW has the shorter 8" length.

I'm not aware of any other G3K types around other than PTR, I seem to recall seeing a Vector G3K pistol, but that was a while ago and I might have been mistaken.

I had one built by Parabellum Combat Systems, GB2K does some fine work.

Yes, I meant the K3P.

Other than a minor difference in barrel length (G3K 12.4", K3P 12.7") I'm not see how the K3P isn't G3K sized. What am I missing?

my bad, the site i checked had the pic of a 8" barrel. I checked with atlantic now and it does look like the right model. sorry again

This is the firearm you seek! 5/8-24 barrel threads, paddle-mag release already installed. For $1500 G3K, it's hard to beat. My Form 4 stamp should be back (ANY TIME NOW!) and I will get to take it out and put some rounds through it. Finish on handguard was not so hot on mine, but the rest of the gun looked great! Put a G3 A2 stock on it, and will figure out a muzzle-device later. (Hoping for a Dead Air Sandman flashhider to go with my Sandman-L)

That looks like the only way to go if you don't want to invest in a full custom build. The only problem is that it's out of stock. I'm signed up for notifications on it.

This is the exact route I am taking for my pseudo G3K project, but I am pinning a long flash hider on I until I decide if I want to go thru the hassle of SBR.

I want to run a suppressor, so that is why I went SBR route. Unfortunately, at the time, WA wouldn't allow Form 1 SBRs, only Form 4 from a FFL/SOT. So I had to pay my buddy to file a Form 2 and engrave his name. Now, Form 1 is legal again... Oh well. Should be getting close!

I've heard differing advice on what locking piece to use with a G3K when suppressed. I'd be interested to hear what your experience is when your stamp comes in.

I am planning on running it with a G3/HK91 45-degree LP when suppressed (I also have a #17/36-degree LP I might try) The PTR K3P *SHOULD* come with a 50-degree LP. I havent checked myself, but I have read on other forums that Atlantic has confirmed they (K3P) come from PTR with the "correct" LP.

LSC MP5K flat inbound, Trunion in hand, no other parts yet
On K3P in stock notification email list.

I think I've pretty much decided on the K3P. It just can't be beat for the price. It looks like Vector and Moore Advanced Dynamics both offer something similar but they're not available anywhere either and coat significantly more.

i wonder how many people were on that email list. I was waiting for a few weeks, got the email alert and ordered the same night. Once my payment cleared they were sold out again. I'm assuming they had more than 1 in stock and people just snatched them up quick. And whats up 556chan? Your youtube video also sold me on this one. Not sure if i will SBR or use it as a camera lens destruction device
