Picked up a SAR3/8 over stamp in EX condition (Gap at .016) for $1500.00 OTD
The gentleman who sold it to me said it was purchased in 1990 and put <100 rounds down the pipe. Gun has all of the Pre-Ban features.













The Gun came complete with the original Green stock set and MB, The original owner added the 4 prong FH and G3 Wood stock set. Rifle also came complete with the HK 30mm scope MT and old Simmons 2x7 scope. I plan on replacing the scope with something lighter in the near future. I also plan on putting on a wood pistol grip.

Have you shot it? I'm wandering if that 4 prong FH rings like a tuning fork? I'm told the symmetrical 4 prongs ring out when fired.

No have not shot it, I will be doing that sometime next month. If it does ring I will just swap in the old original G3 FH. Also as a bonus the original owner installed a heavy buffer in the buttstock.

Thanks, I have been looking for one of these Greek G3 Springfield Rifles off and on for the last 5 years to add to the collection. It will fit nicely between my CETME MARS and my HK91. The Guy was nice enough to let me take it apart to examine it right on his table, when I saw it was almost brand new I couldn't write the check fast enough. lol

Looks good but your grenade launcher ring appears turned down (post ban). Still a great gun and a simple swap out if you wanted to take it back. That heavy buffer is a sweet upgrade. I saw RTG is carrying rubberized buttplates for the wood furniture. Been meaning to try one out. Might be a nice addition with the heavy buffer on yours.

No Greek sar3,s or 8,s had grenade ring intact. They were made as semi auto civilian versions of the G3 rifle. Just a side note Now, my Fmp builds barrel has the Grenade ring.

Thanks Bro, I was just going to chime in. The only difference between this SAR3/8 and the SAR3 is the #8 overstamp. The rifle itself was manufactured in 1989, it was one of the last of the preban rifles to come into the U.S. This rifle is just like the HK91 (no grenade ring) only produced in Greece.

Ya, my buddy has the exact mint 3/8 overstamp just like yours. I'm waiting to pick it up. He wants $1400. It still has the thumbhole stock and the wide black forearm with clipped off bipod lock and we took of thebarrel shaped fake flash and screwed on an original G3 flash. The barrel is a standard length and profile like yours. I wouldn't have thought about buying it if it had the shorter,later barrel with fake flash, flush to barrel crown. Ours are the good ones. Nice score! Especially with the 30mm claw mount.
