according to my dealer, the 40c = 500 in gray,
not sure about the .45. Would love to know.
BTW, the guy I bought the gray 45 from online at Gubroker, is now saying he doesn't want to honor the deal. Hmmm, I think he figured out I got a good deal.

Thanks for the reply! 500 seems to be my best guess so far as well. I looked at my serial numbers and compared them to other pictures through a google search. For the 40 I havent seen anything above -073150. The 45 the highest number I have seen is -100490. (Both the numbers have a few added to it for estimation purposes.) So all I have proven in my search so far is that there are at least three gray(blue) USP fans! Although I do wish it were closer to the gray on the Walther P22.

I just called HK to ask. The person I need to talk to is out of the office for a few days. As soon as I get any info I will post it and send the info to HKPRO to maybe update the USP pages. Sorry to hear the gunbroker deal fell through, not sure how that works but if there is a feedback section I would leave some.

a litte more gray and a little less blue? I think that's everyones first comment. "that's gray? It looks like blue to me."
I mentioned in another thread I'm thinking of getting the slide chromed. I think that will be cool with the light color polymer.
The Walthers are nice looking but I have heard mixed reviews as to how well it works and how folks like them. Also, I don't think the California model come in the gray.
Hey, I also notice you are on San Diego. Why don't you come up on Sunday and come shoot our Introductory Match IPSA style with us and show off some HK cool stuff? http://palmspringsgunclub.org/Calendars/2007_September.htm
Well, that was sure wondering off thread.
So I gather you are estimating 500 of the .45's also?
Where can we find out for sure?

update
I see you posted while I was typing. That's great! look forward to hearing more when you hear from them.

Outstanding. Thanks! and thanks to Bigbore who did the pic originally. I rather like the look. I'm thinking I might chrome the 2 control levers also, slide lock and decock. I would be really cool if HK did a series where they did all the black parts in chrome, including the hammer, mag release and trigger, then did the mag floor plate in the matching polymer.
I guess some folks don't like the gray, but then hey, there is that one that HK has in their collection, the orange one that looks like a halloween toy.
They have pink handcuffs now, maybe they will do a pink one for the ladies??? LOL I crack myself up. Serious about the all matching parts one though.
OK, I'm loosing it.
I'm finally getting my gray .45 so I'm happy for about 30 days till CA lets me get my next one.

HK called me today and left a message. There were 500 of each color of the USP imported. So 500 grey USPf .45, 500 grey USPc .40, 500 "taupe" USPf .45 and so on.

Sweet... I own 1/250th of them! That's .4 percent! Only 498 to go...

I talked to the guy on Glock Talk about his, nice guy and a good deal on that gun... I just don't have the extra cash at the moment. If anyone's looking, shoot him an email.

HK's exact quote to answer this question is "We did minimum quantities of 500 for each of the models (emphasis added) we made with the color frame."
I take that as meaning 500 USP 9mm tan, 500 .40 tan, 500 .45 tan...
so that comes out to a whole lot of guns with colored frames considering there were 7? firearms done in colors. Not all calibers done in all three colors but that still means a hell of a lot of colored framed pistols.

Gray: USPf .45, USPc .40 (1000)

Green: USPf .45, USPf .40, USPc .40, USP .45 Tactical (2000)

Desert Tan: USPf .45, USPf .40, USPc .40, USP .45 Tactical, Mark 23 (2500)

So if "minimum" meant limited the above would be the totals. The message Jeff from HK left on my phone sounded a lot more certain than the message left on the same question I had posted on HK's message board.
