Hello, can anyone help; are there any differences in the H&K pre-ban 93 A3 stocks vs the H&K 33 retractable stock? Are there any color and or shade difference? any code date? internally different? I guess what I'm getting at I have a minty 93 with the A2 stock would like to add a A3 accessory but not sure what to look for. My rifle's code date is IA(stocks, bolt head) with a buffered bolt carrier(do not see a code on the carrier)

There main differences are color, blue / grey or NATO black.
Inside it's either buffered or not. If you have a buffered carrier, then you'd need a non buffered stock,
or remove the buffer from the carrier if you end up with a buffered stock.
Some say don't run two buffers, some say its ok......
Externally, the shape of the buttpad is a difference, the old style looks cooler imho, though the later
style is more comfy ~ either way, have fun finding one, it's a neat accessory, though not the most comfortable
to shoot with. The standard metal ended A2 is the best for it. If you are not a purist, don't forget the Choate
folder, I think they look great on the rifles, and the non adjustable one is spot on for a 80's look.

I completely agree with what you have said here, including the looks cool and more comfy comments. A while back I managed to source both the convex and concave buffered style A3 stocks and did a shooting test with my HK53. The newer (convex?) style was more comfortable - although both suffer in comparison to the A2. I also read somewhere that the concave style stock works best with a grenade launcher in being able to dial in elevation adjustments, but I don't have one of those and so cannot comment.

You can get the convex replacement buttpad if needed to fit your stock once fitted.
