I have never understood why H&K made the threads left hand on the tactical and right hand on the MK23. Does anyone know the reason to thinking on this?
thank you

My guess is that it was an agreement with the authorized can provider, Brugger & Thomet. Since an adapter to allow the can to operate on either weapon is not practical, twice as many cans have the potential to be sold.

The MK23 was built for the US Military. Right handed threads had to be a requirement for the pistol. Everything else in our mechanical life has right handed threads, why not our threaded barrels?

I just have never understood why this was done this way. Every one who has these guns will need needs more parts to outfit them.
