Has magpul prs2 been discontinued? I'm trying to find one to start my poor man's PSG1 build, but it doesn't seem to be in stock anywhere

It actually seems that they are discontinued.

Magpul has the unfortunate habit of discontinuing products with lower production volume without any previous announcement and without good documentation on their website as of what was discontinued when.

You would think with all the 91s, PTR, clones, etc. floating around out there, Magpul would do at least a limited run at least once in a while. Whatever molds they use, it's theirs and no sense of shelving something.

OP, if you cannot find a Magpul, I would suggest a clubfoot for stock. Michael's Machine makes an excellent copy of the 21 clubfoot.

If you're looking for some type of cheek riser to get a sight picture with optics, the 21 clubfoot has takedown pin holes where you make a cheek riser with screws, spacers, and kydex. Even a bolt with knobs to make it height adjustable.

My Google-Fu says:

Magpul MAG340-BLK PRS2 Precision Stock Fixed w/Adjustable Comb Black Synthetic for HK G3/91. Item : 10251 | SKU : MAG340-BLK | Model : PRS2 | UPC : 873750000879

It also says:

Magpul MAG341-BLK PRS2 Precision Stock Fixed w/Adjustable Comb Black Synthetic for FN FAL ; SKU: MAG341-BLK ; UPC: 873750000886 ; Model: PRS2.

They're close together, so this sounds somewhat credible

341 has the stock to FN adapter and the 340 has the G3 one so you need the 340. I reached out to MAGPUL with no response asking if they have a replacement part for the G3 adapter. It is surprising that they still offer the FN style when all they need to make is the adapter. The base of the stock seem to be the same part.

I bet AC Unity could make several versions (adjustable cheek piece, recoil pads, sling socket cup, bag rider, etc.) that would sell like hot cakes. Their folder for the 93/94, as well as the SP89/5PK are very nice. Anyone here with connections to them for a product suggestion?

It’s a good way to counterbalance. My #102 is quite forward heavy (18” bull barrel) with an aftermarket muzzle device. (The 16’ pencil barrel with HK flash hider would have better balance).

I filled the PRS2 stock with quite a lot of clear JB Weld to accentuate this after adding G3 heavy buffer and LPVO. (LOP & cheek-riser problem fixed, too, not just balance-point moved rearwards).

The total weight is less important than balance & handling.

Attachment is same, can’t be otherwise.

Straightline is probably stronger, and maybe lighter; PRS2 vs -3

It also is better for recoil management.

“Looks” is a LARP thing come down to it. Why what seems half the posts on gun forums are comic. Form follows function.

SPUHR was the first real choice in straightline. Mil-spec. Cheekpiece removal per questions by @caflashbob a few years ago to importer (Portuguese-spec; fastener change).

More comparable to “Lite” Magpul variation copies.

I’d get PRS3 today. Compare “looks” to clubfoot. Same basic form

But now a cheek riser is needed.
An add-on, not designed-in.

$400 for a used PRS2?

Ridiculous.

It was barely worth the discounted original MSRP.

Two significant potential points of failure built-in.
Note re-enforcing plates to hold adaptor (1), then to original attach point (2).

Magpul did not design this to fit HK91 exclusively, but to also fit FN-FAL via adaptors.

Will it matter? Does anyone think it’s as sturdy as something one-piece (PRS-3)? The expected point of failure as with any buttstock.
