I just purchased a SLB 2000 .30-06, and hopefully bought through e-bay a HK 05 Scope mount with rings as recommended by the article at
http://www.hkpro.com/slb2000.htm.
With further research, I found HK 05 mounts for sale at http://www.calssportingarmory.com/HK Sight Mounts.htm
which states "HK05 Scope Mount, claw-lock/snap-on, fits SL Series (HK300/630/770/940) will not work with SLB2000 (rings sold separately, see below)"
Will the new mounts fit this rifle?

I just checked my owners manual and it shows a picture of a two piece mount on the rifle, but only mentions "telescopic sight mounts, including Weaver rails". Mine came with the Weaver rail in the box, the manual doesn't list any other specific mounts though.

Just found an old listing that gave this information on a mount supposed to be for the SLB, you might check with HKUSA also, I know they got mags in recently for the SLB:
HK 985145 PIVOT MOUNT w/ 1" RING $ 574.95

HK 05 Mount

Are the mounts different if they take rings or rails, or do they just screw on the same base? How does the HK rail mount differ? I am getting this off Shooters Choice web site in Waterloo, Ontario, which is identical to what you posted.
http://www.shooterschoice.com/benelli/hkslb.htm

What is the difference between the Stanag-mount and the 05? I just missed a Hensodt Wetzler scope with this mount because I was unsure if it would fit. So much to learn, so little time. Thirty years later, (and thirty years too late) the German I took in college would be very helpful now. Thanks.

Bill, my factory weaver rail mounts directly to the top of the receiver. I think the other mount would be a 2 piece with rings. Sorry but I don't know about the Stanag and other mounts.

SLB 2000

Thanks for the information. I am following up on the mounts suggested, but I am still confused and perplexed by the lack of consistant information regarding HK, at least regarding this rifle (is it in translation?) I found another link at:

The HK05 mount fits the SL Series, HK300/630/770/940/SLB 2000 (rings sold separately).

Along the same line, does your rifle break as shown by the picture in:

http://www.hkpro.com/slb2000.htm?

My manual does not show that. Nor do I find the statement that:

"One screw is reportedly all it takes to disassemble the entire rifle."

And again, what got me to purchase the HK05 mount:

"Another feature of the SLB 2000 is the ability to use the time tested HK05 scope mount that was popularized on the SL6 and SL7 series, as well as other of the sporting rifles that can be seen on the HKPRO site as well."

My manual states on page 26: "With normal use, external cleaning of the rifle components and cleaning of the barrel bore will be sufficient." Does this mean cleaning from the muzzle end???

I am not trying to bad mouth the HKPRO site, because I believe the information all came from HK, probably in a pre-production information release. I am just getting more and more confused. (And much poorer, spending lots of money needlessly.) Thanks again.

As much as I love my SLB2000 (shot a few deer and pigs with it two weeks ago),I think that one screw take-down was a dream someone had before they had actually built a rifle.

On mine I remove the forearm screws, then two additional screws to take out the trigger group, etc., probably identical to your owners manual. Yep, they mean cleaning from the muzzle end, which is what I normally do. I did have to completely disassemble it when I got back for them last hunt as we were hunting in freezing rain and snow. Who would have dreamed of that in south Texas?

Bill the 05 Mount will not work on the SLB2000....which is too bad.

What will work is EAW pivot mount bases and rings.

The EAW base and rings are the only way to go with a SLB2000.(the crappy Bsquare rail is ... well,...crappy!)The 05 mount will not work.Too bad HK had to mislead us on that from day one.In spite of that,it's a great semi-auto hunting rifle. You will be pleased.

if you've got a rifle to clean by the muzzle... wander over to rimfirecentral... a company there advertises a patch worm (green pull through cleaner). I use it on guns that would normally require a rod in the muzzle. with this... I can do pull through from breach. works very well.
