Well I got the email today from HKparts.net about the 416 rail covers being back in stock, went online immediately but all but 1 piece were sold out 3 minutes after the email was sent out.

And I got that last piece.
Need 2 more for my toy.
I had 4 in my cart and when I was entering address info and cc info, a pop up came up and said only 1 was available. I don't know how some folks got checked out in the first 3 minutes. Some ******* probably bought all the rail covers and will have a listing on gunbroker or Sturm in the next few days for double the retail price.
I bought only 2:)
I was so excited when I got the email and was on their website within minutes but I was too SLOW!

OFF TOPIC: I posted this in Heads Up section too but wanted to let others know. Great deal on German HK 416 maritime 30 round mags. $35 each shipped brand new.

Why are these such a coveted item? What am I missing here?

If you have a change of heart before they arrive, let me know! J/K
No kidding! missed them again. Just saw the email way too late. LOL
In my email it stated there are 329 people on the notify list wanting 828 rail covers. And they got 15 in stock today.

Nothing at all that I can see either. They say HK on them, so people want them to keep their rifle 100% HK, maybe? Seems like they're just Tangodown rails.

Me neither, they're too thick. That said, I have 6 that I'd be willing to part with for the right price ;)

Same as people who think the HK SOCOM bags are a treasure.
So what's the deal with a company that cannot keep more than a few units of anything in its dealers hands? Honestly, it speaks poorly of how HK is managed. UMP Mags unavailable for the better part of a year? No wonder many PDs give up and move on. Hard to understand how they fail to get a basic grip on their supply chain.

Good point. We're well beyond funny. The HK45c Mag Releases went almost as fast.

I think just keeping it HK is the main reason. There are plenty of other decent rail options. Until I got mine, I was just using Magpul ladder rail protectors on my MR556.

lol, I like mine, sweet pistol bag!

But I bought it back when they could be had for 80 dollar or less.

As for the HK mags I dont see the point, I modified all of my pmags and they are perfect
Whoever is figuring out their production for the small parts must be lost. Huge demand for tons of parts that should be batch made, and a ton of it that is most likely contracted out. The mag releases were a big deal, I bought 3 when they came out, thankfully.

There was the debacle of trying to get extended baseplates for USP 9mm/40, then all of a sudden they get 3,000 of them? I actually doubt that the demand for 3,000 baseplates at $6 a pop is all that high.

Hell I think getting 200 match weights at $200 a piece would sell out in a month, but of course that'll never happen.

When I did my hybrid trigger, the only way to get the parts was to have HK do "warranty" work to the gun while installing an LEM trigger. You couldn;t just buy the few pieces individually and there were no match kits, but they had all the parts.

For me, functionality had a bit to do with it. I wanted to protect the rails and lower the chances of snags but wanted full rail coverage. Options for that were difficult due to the bolt that holds in the rail, at first causing me to hack up some TD rails to get coverage.

its not an easy spot to get coverage as you can see there...

One piece covers were what I was looking for so I snagged a couple the first time the came available on HK parts a while back, guess i got lucky before all the hype got out of control.

They are not. That is why HK does not import them into US, as TD holds rights for those covers in US.
i picked up two... I use to use kac rails on my hk 33k but they were just so damn bulky and kind of heavy so I went back to just regular rubber ladder covers. With the elcan I have on there the rifle gets heavy quick so wherever I can lower the weight I do it, I did away with the hk vertical grip as well. The ladder covers are surprisingly comfortable to hold. I want to try out the hk ones and see how they feel/look, most likely I will just stick to the latter ones...
