To someone out there with a new HK 45 and a USP, does it look like the HK45 mag release will fit the USPs ? Do you think that it works better?

It's a complete redesign of the mag release. It won't be able to be fitted to a USP.

Not the answer I was hoping for, but thank you anyway. God knows it needed a complete redesign.

I thought about calling somebody like Bowie Tactical and asking him if he could make a similar mag realease - you're right, it's way better on the HK45.
There is room for a something similar on the USP if somebody would make one.
