HK 91 Price old/new

Is there any difference in value with the older HK 91 ?
I was just looking to buy a new 91 from a friend who has two HK91s and needs some money.
He has a IB - 1981 and 1976 , both are in great condition and he said $1600 my choice.
Any feedback?

Reason for buying - good price , been getting into HK's (newbie), and will shoot it from time to time.

Not really... I'd go with the '76 myself. I like old things... hell, I AM old things. I was already out of the Coast Guard for a couple years by 1976.

$1600 is a great price, btw. Oh, and you can shoot the hell out of it. Saving an HK for investment means you won't be having any fun with it. Kinda like not banging the ol' lady and saving her for the next guy...

Help the poor guy out and buy both of 'em!

Can't go wrong with either one, but like Shattered said, "I'd go with the '76 myself". lB - 1981 was a busy year for importation (the highest). Lots of lB's out there; I have two of them.

Best,

Thanks for the feedback
While I should know this, is one gray and one black? If you wish to add lots of accessories, the black is easier to match.
That said the gray is little cooler IMO ... possible being older than Shattered, who was a young pup at the KCR bumps rush (but now days I would have been back then also ;-).
Is the '76 a polygonal bore? If so, even more reason to purchase the '76.

I will find out Monday when he brings them over. ...........But I decided to go with the 1976 unless there is something I missed when I looked at them last week.
