HK G3 question

1764 Views 8 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  gunhappy_ie
I've come across a gun shop that is selling used/never fired HK G3s, but I know nothing about the G3. How does it compare to the MR308? What would be a good price for one of these (they are asking $970)?

Any info/advice appreciated.

Real G3's?? Really? Not so sure about that. The G3 is a machine gun and will undoubtedly cost a lot more than $970. Is it a clone? PTR?
They are being sold by a reputable dealer in Europe (but not in France, where I live). I haven't contacted the gun shop, but their ad says that they are Heckler and Koch G3 caliber .308. They are listed as used, but the ad says that they have never been used and that they are from a reserve stock. They are listed as being semi-auto.

Oh. You're in europe. Oops. Nm. We In the states. I can't help you there.
I suppose these are the G3's sold by Freylinger in Luxemburg you are refering to.

If so, ask them pictures of the markings to be sure this are real HK G3's.
I saw the G3 at Freylinger, but I found one elsewhere for less. I've exchanged a couple of e-mails, but they won't export to a private party in France, so I have to see if a gun shop in the area would handle the import paperwork. I'm still trying to get them to tell me if it is a genuine HK or a clone. If it is a HK, is it worth the price? I found a full auto G3 in Switzerland, but that isn't legal here in France.
I don't think anyone can really say here in the States. Genuine G3's were not imported into the US as the old W. German laws prohibited civilian sales of the actual G3. The civilian semi-auto versions of the G3 over here were the HK41 and later the HK91 and the SR9.

Thanks for that information.
Hi Callahan, another euro with a G3 here. There was a guy on here several years ago from france that had a G3. The market is awash with Enfield built G3s and Portuguese built FMP G3s. Try this guy Armurerie Raoul Cloos – ARC.,he has G3s from time to time and exports throughout europe I bought an Enfield G3 off him a few years ago. The rifle was in unflred condition internally but had wear marks externally from being stored.

As to how a G3 compares to a MR308, I havent had the 2 side by side to compare properly but in short the MR is a far better rifle...... because its the latest in technology and almost €3000 compared to a surplus military rifle.

If you have any more questions feel free to send me a PM
