You don't see too many launchers on G3s these days. Lots of G3 shots coming out of Africa. This one from yesterday's WP front page:

Maybe I should rethink that upcoming trip to Mombassa! I didn't know anyone used the old school launchers anymore-seems like most folks have gont to the coaxial system like the M203, maybe the Kenyans have a warehouse full of rifle grenades. Anybody know anything about this? Anybody ever fired one? I don't see any leaf or quadrant sights, but based on most African marksmanship, it seems that anywhere in the general direction is fine, usually holding the weapon up over a wall. Michael Durant spoke about this in his book about Mogadishu, Somalia. Looks like he's ready to go to town with the baseball bat and trashcan lid!

I fired a smoke rifle grenade from a AK4 (G3). Firing procedure was like firing a mortar, no special sights used, only simple mathematics, involving elevation and
direction.
maybe its firing a less than lethal round? it looks like the police with the G3, so its possible...... but from the looks of that ax handle......I doubt it
Fired something like that on an M16a1/a2 called a Mk87 Line throwing adapter that is screwed onto the end of the muzzle and fires a 24 Oz rubber coated projectile. It was used primarily as a rescue tool for taking line over to a ship/boat adrift. The rounds used were grenade rounds and they worked adequate enough.
Did launch a few tennis balls with them too and at 25 yards, they were fairly accurate.

Is there such a thing as "less than lethal" out of a 7.62? Rubber or not it'd probably still kill you.

Yep, there is a reason they call it "hickory shampoo"...
If the HK isn't enough, just beat the hell out of them with the bat. WOW
It may be a teargas grenadelauncher.
Old, but efficient enough to spread a crowd or an angry mob.
