ETA: when you engage the lock, remember to never try and rack the slide.
Thanks. I certainly can't complain about the treatment of the new guy here.

I probably won't use it, but I want to complete the package, and it's the only thing that didn't come with the used but unfired gun I bought.

The key is very useful, it's been in my Keychain for years. It can turn screws, pry things open, all kinds of stuff. It just never locks the gun.

Attempting to rack the slide with the lock out engaged can damage the hammer strut.
I didn't know that, thanks for the info.

I'm not a fan of that feature, as I'm not a fan of introducing unnecessary aspects to a working design.

there was a clerk at the Bass Pro Shop gun counter that was telling a customer that HK didn't have a lock, I made $20.00 on that.
