Are the straight mags any good compared to the 30 round mags?
No difference in performance. IMHO the reason for the switch was theoretical at best, based on two things, that the 9x19mm case has a slight taper as opposed to a straight wall case, and the Teutonic penchant for over thinking/engineering things sometimes. Ever heard of the Uzi having problems being a straight double feed position magazine? Nope.

Plus the straight ones fit in your standard 5.56mm mag pouches, if actually ever carrying any is a possibility. Why bother with special curved mag pouches (I wouldn't even know where to look) that probably aren't 2x deep and take up more real estate on your rig/armor.....

Are the straight mags any good Compared to the 30 round mags?

Sent from my VS986 using Tapatalk
I bought a bunch about 8 years ago, when I first got into the MP5 stuff. They were about $20 each back then. The straight ones don't work as well in the clones and that's what I was shooting for years, in full auto. The curved ones fed more reliably. So my straight ones have been sitting on a shelf for 8 years. I recently got an SP5k and turned it into a sear gun. I tried one of the old straight mags and it worked perfectly.

My overall opinion would be that the straight ones might work perfectly in an HK, but the curved ones work better in everything in general. They will also likely hold their value better, depending on availability and interest. My personal experience proves me wrong though, apparently, since my straight ones have doubled in value. So, of course, YMMV.
