Strange that the sear got 'married' to an SP89. This was done on rifles when barrels <16", not sure there was any requirement on a pistol.

OP, does paperwork reflect '... installed in SP89 ser# yada yada.....'?

Back in the 90’s Sp89’s were banned in MD so you had to marry the sear to get one in the state.
