I have a P30, P30SK, and USP C all in black.
I've seen the VP9 in other colors and especially like the grey and fde.
On Instagram I've seen a couple P2000 in fde.

I know the gun market is crazy right now, but I can't find any P2000 for sale in any color other than black. I'm starting to wonder if these colors were legitimately offered by HK, or if people had the polymer frame cerakoted.

Because I'm super OCD... I'd love to get a VP9 in grey (share magazines w/ my P30) and a P2000 40SW in fde (share magazines with my USP 40C. Which would also give some color to my collection.

I may just be better off buying everything in black though, because it seems like I may be looking awhile to find the color/caliber combination I want. Thoughts?

They are legit. I recently found out about these colored frame models and from what I can gather, HK made a lot of their guns with colored frames exclusively for the California market. There might have been some besides these for non-CA, too. They were available in small numbers over the last five or so years, but now they seem tough to find. Like you, I can't seem to find any colored frames. Been searching for a USP or USP Compact with the grey frame.

Take a look at this topic here, awesome info from @omega21

Keep looking, hopefully you can find one. There ARE fakes out there, though, so definitely be thorough if you do find one.

Odd that colored USP's were targeted for CA, but the gray P30 was made in Germany and had to be imported by a company in IL.

Don't much care for the color of the FDE HK45's that are on GB these days.

Did HK make the P30 family available in any other colors than black and gray?

That other thread for the USP color variants makes me want to collect all of them :)

Thanks for the kind words @thomasmuller !
@spentcase - color frames were a fun re-release that were targeted at CA (because those guns were still on the roster) but available elsewhere. The P30 is only made in black and gray and the P30L only in black.

@wdritchey P2000 is legitimately available in black, OD green, FDE, blue, red, and clear. @kbinmt has a blue and red that you can see here Red or Blue P2000 frame, pick one . I'm not really sure if the 40 P2000 came with a FDE frame or not but I suspect not, so do some research but don't wait for it if it's not already out there. USPs are listed in that link above so you can see their color variations. HK45C and HK45 were released in sand and green frames as well as all-sand and all-green variations. VP9s are a little bit of a wild card because in 2018 HK USA had some of the slides cerakoted so you will find combos like black frame-bronze slide, black frame-FDE slide, green frame-FDE slide. I took a green frame-FDE slide and combined it with a FDE frame and made the all-FDE gun below. HK still offers the VP9 in RAL7008, OD and gray frames. The cerakoted slides they did were a limited 2018 run.

There are some fakes that were recently sold on GB. These were simply Omaha Outdoors cerakoted guns that were sold by other vendors as if they were legitimate HK colored frame guns. Omaha is very transparent that their guns are cerakoted, but others intentionally deceived their customers (I know because I informed them their guns were fake). Overall, I think fake colored frames is a pretty uncommon thing because it's soooo easy to spot fakes.

Color frames are great and I highly recommend them. If you want one, just post a WTB in our WTB section. My only advice with colored frames is to install a threaded or extended barrel to keep the muzzle blast further away from the edge of the frame. This will prevent discoloration on the front edge of your frame's dust cover and help the gun retain value. One experiment I don't recommend is cerakoting a black slide. I tried this and it was a bad move as every sharp edge lost the cerakote in a matter of a few range trips.

Super knowledgeable, thank you!
I just emailed HK, but I'll ask here as well. Just because I'm hellbent over it now haha.

Let's say I bought a P2000 9mm in FDE of gb right now and a P2000 40SW in black. Could I just swap the slides and boom, FDE 40. Then I could just sell the 9mm. I know every pistol is different, but I know the USP 9mm and 40 are near identical, so I wouldn't be surprised if these were too.

I've never ever been a fan of colored frames, of course that was back in my Glock days. The first time I saw my OD Green USP .40 Custom Combat in a case at my LGS, all that changed, I had to have it! Definitely the best looking pistol I own! View attachment 302702
Nice! I passed on an FDE version back in 2019 and am still kicking myself.

I think the OD frames look the best...especially in a full size USP variant.
