Hey guys,

Just wondering if my hk94 clone has the genuine HK recoil assembly installed but has been sitting in the safe for a good 12+ years. Would the spring lose tension or would it be a good idea to change it out before the next range session.

Thanks!

Hopefully someone else will chime in as I have had no experience with 94 clones. However I have owned two Cetmes, two PTR91s, 1 custom SG1 clone, 1 custom G3 clone, 1 custom MSG90 clone, a C93 and 1 custom 93 clone and I have only replaced one or possibly two recoil springs (That was on well used surplus stocks) . I have had many more stocks than rifles and I switch them around every once in a while. While the recoil springs are a wear item it usually takes a good bit of use to wear them out. I don't think just sitting in a safe should fatigue the recoil spring.

Springs do NOT deteriorate from sitting static, whether compressed or relaxed. It is the cycling of the spring from one state to another that wears it out.
