I apologize in advance if this is the wrong place to post this or this has already been brought up but I searched for the 416 22 and nothing came up.

I bought a hk/umarex 416 22 a while back and I love it so far. I put cheap ammo in it and it functions 99.9 % of the time and is accurate (hit a prairie dog at about 100 yards with the first shot, open sites). I was showing it to my brother a while back and when he picked it up, the dust cover latch pin/spring just fell right off. I didn't have the patience to put it back on as I attempted it a couple times (without the right tools obviously). Just would like to hear others good or bad things about theirs and what they about the quality of it. Thanks

I'm glad it's all metal. I zeroed the rifle at 50 yds. My dust cover hasn't fallen off. I've only shot 110 rds through it, but so far it looks like it is a solid performer. I'll be using it as a practice rifle for my 3 gun setup when I run out of 5.56. This means that over the course of this year I'll probably fire tens of thousands of rounds through it. I'll keep us all posted on how it hangs.

please do continue to feed info...I read a couple posts about guys who returned them or traded them off and I was a bit sad to hear it...I have a Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22 that has been 99% functional no matter what i feed it and it has raised my standards a bit high in the 22LR department i think

if you guys have good accuracy and functionality into the 1k range and above I might take the plunge and get my 15-22 a buddy! please keep us informed!!

BTW this should be in the "Clone Talk" thread i believe ;)

**also make sure you let us know what brand and type ammo you fire--flawlessly or otherwise--

I posted about mine in the 'clone talk' section, but I'll throw this in here, just in case anyone is interested.

I bought one a couple weeks ago and took it back a few days later. When I first took it to the range, cocking the gun wouldnt strip a round off the mag about 75% of the time. Switched to a new mag, better results but still an occasional bobble. As long as I could get the round chambered, the gun was very reliable. No malfunctions other than listed above. Not sure if it was a 'new gun break in' issue, or what, but I wasnt gonna screw with it. I got a Sig 522 instead and its been great as well.

Aesthetics: HK
Reliability: Sig
Durability: Sig
Accuracy: Sig, by a hair
Magazine quality: HK

I say 'HK', you guys know what I mean...walther/umarex whatever

My first 110 rds were with CCI Mini-mag and were flawless. I zeroed the rifle at 50 yds and was achieving 1.5 - 2 inch groups with the iron sights from prone on a difficult target (black post on black circle).

I don't want to six o'clock the sights, but rather I want the tip of my front sight post to be at the point-of-aim at 50 yds. That's why super precise groups were a challenge. I'll try for some better groups with a more forgiving target later on. I'm just glad that it was able to be zeroed in time for my match this weekend.

The rifle will be used in the 3 gun match this weekend. There are two stages that are closer to a residential area and only pistol caliber carbines can be used rather than full power rifles due to sound issues on those stages. That's where my HK416 22 will be used. I've picked up two more 20 rd magazines and will perform some speed reloads more than likely in the match.

A full report will follow.
