Hello, Just picked up a new USP (BG date code) the other day, and noticed a slight imperfection on the frame near the hammer. Looked almost like an impression or crack. Contacted cust. service (primarily for safety reasons) and was told:

It's a simple imperfection in the mold. Won't cause any issues or safety concerns.

A little disappointing, but as long as it's safe (and remains safe) I don't mind. It's hardly noticeable, the pictures I've provided are under perfect lighting which highlights the imperfection. I Just wanted to put this out there just in case someone runs into this or similar issue to not panic or have a stroke.

cheers. -as

I'm with you on wanting your new pistol to be perfect. It's hard to make anything that is completely " perfect" . I doubt that is an imperfection in the mold but more likely just some mold release . It's a glass filled polymer and takes about 3 minutes or so to cure in the mold . That material is tough as nails . What caliber did you get ?

I have the same imperfection on my USP 45, albeit not as noticeable as yours. It used to really bother me, but after the typical signs of use started to appear from general shooting, I couldn't care less now. I find a new handgun is like a new pair of sneakers. When they're brand new, you do all you can to keep them clean looking, but eventually, they get dirty from wearing them daily. And then next thing you know, you're walking through grass and dirt because it's faster than staying on the concrete pathway. Trust me, after a thousand rounds or so fired, you won't care anymore about this imperfection.
