Hey
I am stuck between the HK45 and the 45C. I really prefer the grip and feel of the HK45 BUT I'm 5'4 and 170lbs. Any other smaller stature guys able to conceal it? My state is open carry friendly but CCW is often useful as well. I still need to find a range to rent and shoot both before I make my decision but wanted others perspectives as well.

If your primary purpose of the gun is carrying it then the C for sure. If you are going to spend more time at the range than in the waistband then get the full size. If you really prefer the full size more then buy a different gun for daily carry & get the Full Size for range use

Concealment is as much or more a matter of body type as it is height.

If you are about the same dimensions in the chest as you are in the waist, it becomes a little harder not to print.

I'm short also. I'm 5'6", but I'm a 44 chest and I wear 34" pants. What this means is that I can wear an outside holster and a floppy T-shirt, and I won't print. My shoulders and chest will pull the bottom part of the fabric away from my handgun. Consider that aspect more so than your height.

But, between the two, the HK45c will always be easier to conceal.

Thanks I'm a 42" chest and 32" waist. I hadn't consider having broader shoulders helping out I am somewhat stocky for my height. The only thing pulling me toward the full size is the grip and price being equal I shoot a full size better.

You're not going to have a problem concealing. You'll have problems finding a decent suit; I recommend a super athletic cut, if you can find it.

Haha! I'm a diesel mechanic so my suit days are limited to put it lightly. I am an odd build so tailor made is the only way to go.

First, the HK45C is always going to be easier to conceal. To put this in perspective, the elephant foot mag for the HK45C is the same mag as the HK45 with just a different baseplate. Secondly, it's less about height and more about chest/shoulders to waist ratio. Need a bigger shoulder and chest than waist. I've concealed both with no issues, but I'm 5'8" and 170lbs with a 30" waist.

What makes the HK45 more cumbersome to conceal is the wide base on a longer mag well. Even with a 10 degree holster slant, the full size is more difficult to conceal. You have to consider that you will not always be walking upright. You will lean forward, and occasionally bend over. Heavier and/or loose fitting garments will help.
During deer season, I'll carry my HK45 concealed without any problems. At that time, I have the clothing that allows it. If you are adamant about carrying the full size, you can do it with your build and the right clothing.
