Alright, this question is bothering me. Looking for a DEFINITIVE answer.

The HK45 Tactical models that were two-tone Tan/Black or Green/Black were SUPPOSEDLY limited to 1000 units each, though the continued availability of these has made me question the accuracy of that statement.

I had heard and been aware of these two-tone models being in limited production. When the full-tan/green models came out with the colored slides, I heard no such claims that they were a limited production model, but assumed they would be regularly produced alongside the black models at the HK USA facility for the foreseeable future.

All the above-mentioned HK's are pictured on the HK USA website, though I know that really doesn't mean anything.

Now I'm wondering what the truth is. I don't want to assume I can get a colored HK45 sometime down the road only to be disappointed. Thanks in advance for definitive responses from those who really know what the deal is.

(I know some of you have worked at HK or still work closely with them - lucky b***ards) ;)

Why don't you call CS? If you want a definitive answer that's probably where to get it.

Per HK at the NRA Convention in Louisville back in May, the colored HK45's are longer being produced. That includes both the Tactical and Cerakote models.
As far as total numbers produced, I think they went over the 1000 number but I have no knowledge of the total.

When these Desert Tan and OD Green HK45 Tacticals (and also Black) were introduced back in 2013, HK confirmed that only 1,000 would be made in each color (and 2,000 in Black). You can search the archive and find those threads. What I am not sure about is if that 1,000 is US-made run or if it includes the ones that are available outside of the U.S. as well (Canadian/European markets).

Let us know what you learn from HKCS after you called them.

That was the info that I had heard and read many times. I had ask a similar question on a thread I started yesterday. A few guys stated that they had BF date codes on their HK45T's. Maybe those were the production numbers for HK's first batch of these pistols, with the BE date code like the one I have? IDK

I own an OD Green USP Tactical thats 1/500. Trust me when I say these are extremely hard to locate and the price keeps going up. Saw a NIB example go for over $3400 two years ago and they continue to go up as they have pretty much disappeared for the most part, but do show up occasionaly with high price tags.

Same will happen with the color HK45 Tactical, not as fast due to more units being produced than the color USP, but it has started. Try locating one in your favorite color now. I suggest if you find a nice clean or NIB example to buy it. In two years youre gonna be shocked at the market price as it dries up, and how difficult and long it will be to locate.

Finally got a chance to call HK Customer Service, and the person on the line was friendly and helpful. He informed me that the fully-OD Green/Tan HK45 models are no longer being made as they were a special production run for 2015, after which time they ceased production. I forgot to ask about specific numbers about how many were made, but this may or may not have prompted me to snag one that I found for a great deal online..... :)

So, definitive answer, they are no longer made as of the end of 2015. If you want one, better find it pretty quickly ;)

I've had a Tactical model in the past (sold it, unfortunately), but this one is the standard HK45 with OD Green frame and slide. I wasn't necessarily in the market for an HK45, but after seeing the price and finding out they're no longer produced, I couldn't help myself :) I'll have to post a picture when I finally receive it, which will probably take about a week.

That's a great setup - I bet if you set it down in the woods you'd have a hard time finding it again :) I'm planning on getting an HK threaded barrel to use it with my Osprey.

An unbelievably good price, and I think we got some of the last ones they had. Enjoy it in good health :)

Thank you sir. I'm sorry you missed out. I did the same. Watched it everyday and drug my feet. My coworker bought one. I added to watch list and went to 4. I told him if they dropped below 4 I'd buy one. Woke up n they were down to 1. Panic buy lol. They were cheap enough so no worries.

I keep going back and forth between the USP Compact 45 in stainless and the HK45C, but the USP is so much cheaper! Those tan ones like you got were a heck of a deal though.... i just kinda wanted a black one, but they are proud of them...for sure!

Personally, I don't know how you live without both. 45compacts - 2.jpg 45compacts - 1.jpg
