Hello all! I finally took my NY pistol permit class back in December 11th, same day I ordered up a brand new HK45 in the DA/SA variant. Obviously in NY I can't physically take ownership of the pistol until my license is approved but in order to submit application I need a serial number of a gun. The gun shop holds and stores the gun until I get my license. My question is its been since December now and apparently the shop has yet to get a gun in from their distributor even though when I ordered it they said their distributor had 2 and it would take only a few weeks to get it in. It is now coming up close to 3 months of wait. Is this normal or is there some sort of shortage going on? It just aggravates me having just plunked down 1200 bucks and I still can't even get so much as a serial number to submit my paperwork.

Thanks,

The Jerkman

There are a couple at my LGS, so do not think there is a shortage. $1200 for it?? Did I miss something? New York price? Hope you can get it soon
or possibly try another gun shop, as that is a ridiculous amount of wait time for a HK45 IMO.

Your FFL is ****ing you around, or the distributor isn't prioritizing NY orders. Trust me, I'm from there..... But I've now moved to Texas where I'm happy and free. I don't miss that Socialist BS they make you do for everything up there. I miss the sh*t out of Wegmans though.

Take heart JMan, living in Kommiefornia I understand it stinks to wait for that great new pistol. But, at least you can purchase an HK45. Its not even on our DOJ list of approved pistols. I think navyman may be on the right track. Time to get to a free state.

Thanks for all the updates! Looks like I will be paying my ffl a call and if still no updates a visit into the shop might be of order to see what the wait time is and if they tell me something different not recognizing me I will definitely be having a talk with them. And RHG I always thought New Yorkistan was brutal. What sort of ridiculous reason does the dump hole known as California give for not allowing an HK45? Seems like a very regular pistol to me, one with an incredibly ergonomic grip that feels like velcro in the hand. It's a dream come true.

HK45 #745001-A5 is and has been readily available from several of my distributors. I can't remember the last time that one was out of stock. One distributor has a sales office in your state so I doubt that is the issue. Heck, I can order one today and have it to any LGS in the USA by Friday, most of them on Thursday! That includes it being shipped to me first.

The odd part was they kept trying to talk me into the LEM variant at the same price. I preferred the DA/SA variant due to the ability to have it chambered and not necessitate the hammer being pre cocked in order to fire the first round. I preferred that minor "safety" that would afford. Side note I am extremely careful about all my guns and if I do not need to be walking around with a cocked and loaded gun I would rather not. In my mind that's just one more chance for an accident to happen. If someone else wants to that's fine with me, just not my cup of tea. That's part of the reason I didn't opt for the VP9 or other striker fired HK

Is it possible they are waiting for a brand spanking new 2017 pistol? To me that seems a bit far fetched but the wait seems like they are waiting for one to roll off hot off the factory line to finally deliver to me.

you just need to go see your ffl and find out what's going on, pull your money or deposit back and go to another ffl.

$10.00 says they have not even ordered it yet.

Well, I suppose that is possible but since they said they were ordering from a distributor, there is no way of knowing the date code ahead of time. I can find out if it is totally German made as all my reps can check the serial #s of models in stock but only someone at the warehouse can physically check the date code, which requires opening the case to inspect the gun and no one is going to do that.. I've asked before.

Several of my local shops are swimming in HK45's. I personally think the market for them has tanked. I've had a like new HK45 with 4 mags I've been trying to sell for months now. Dropped the price to $650 just to get it gone, and still no biters. Finally I wound up just trading it in to the local shop as a $650 credit towards a SP5K.

go to dealer ASAP, get ALL your money back. purchase elsewhere. too much run around, and time has passed. I would have been there after 31 days getting my money back.

So it takes half a day to do this, will be worth it, if this is how they do business, i would NOT do it with THEM.

get money back asap ! hope all goes well.
