I wanted one for years after hearing about how they came about being made and how well they shoot I had to get one... I had a Kimber and I had always had issues with it for years don't think the frame was made right and they just didn't want to make it right so I sold it and went with the HK45ct as I wanted to get the 10 round mags with it and then get some 8s later as I did. Also got a HK45c barrel for it also. I have to say its a shooter if you can hold it it will put them big fat 45s in the same hole lol

I don't know how the HK45 would shoot but I would think just as well. But I'm happy with the HK45ct and its LEM also like that. If you get one you will enjoy it.

 

Leaning towards the 45c because of the 10rd mags. Would of been great if the HK45 had the ability of holding 12rds of 45 like the USP, but if it could hold 12rds would the the frame be as good? Probably not and the frame of the Hk45/p30 is one of the best feeling pistols out there, thing is basically a glove. Haven't held a 45c, is the grip better or worse than the Hk45/p30?

Not worse, but different. The factory HK45c grip is slippier because the grip pattern is less aggressive and thinner (no palm swells) than the HK45 and P30. It takes more time and effort to master the grip to maintain a firm no-slip hold shot-to-shot. But of course, you can always buy and Talon grip or a Hogue Handall to make the grip better.

 

Have both, shoot both, and love 'em both, but love the HK45c a little better. Unlike the HK45, there is no trigger channel ridge at the bottom of the trigger guard, that rubs against the lower edge of my trigger finger when the trigger breaks. After about 150 rounds of fire, my trigger finger gets sore.

 

The trigger trough has never been an issue with me. I know it really bothers some, but I've never even noticed it, and I've run my HK45 through week long training courses where we shot thousands of rounds individually. that said, there are gunsmiths who will remove the trough, or you can do it yourself. Based on what I've read/learned, you don't really know if the trough will bother you until you spend considerable time behind the trigger.

 

HK45 for the grip alone. Both firearms are duty size handguns. Both share the same design. Same capacity. Same features. The full size variant however has an extremely ergonomic grip with superior texturing compared to the compact.

Im more a fan of the HK45ct. i prefer grips with flatter sides - easier to index on the draw, a less ambiguous grip than the ergo grips of the hk45/p30/vp9.

Don't want to buy two 45's, if I do buy two might go with the HK45ct and a P30 in 9. Is the P2000 the same frame as the hk45c just smaller? If so might just go HK45 and P2000 357 if I can find it.

buy both of them.. I like them both equally for different reasons. concealed carry, HK45C. full size, open/duty carry HK45 all day. currently I carry (concealed) my HK45C daily, very concealable, very comfortable handgun to carry.

Either way with the TF's, you can order a longer spring with the extension, or just the extension. with the HKParts, you just use the OEM spring.

I have run thousands of rounds through mine, I carry them on duty, I have never had a malfunction or failure to lock back with either brand.

 

I have both the HK45 and 45c. The grip is much better for me on the HK45. Love the finger grooves. I bought the tactical threaded barrel, and the raised Heinie sights and just love it. Picked up a couple of the 13 round mags for it shoots awesome.

 

Concerning the slippery grip of HK45c: Talon rubber grip applications are cheap, easy to apply, look great, and feel great . No more slip. I made my 2007 model a tactical and use an Obsidian 45 with it. Couldn’t be happier with this gun.

 

I have the HK .45C, is a wonderful carry pistol an supper accurate, must be the O ring on the barrel, this gun is more accurate than some of my 1911s.

Yeah, if theres one thing ALL HKs display it is 1911 accuracy.

 

All HK45’s have o-ring barrels. It is my belief the degree of accuracy improvement the o-rings provide, is well above our ability to shoot these guns. The reason the guns are as accurate as they are, is a result of the cumilation of many things involved in the manufacture of the handguns.

 

Yea other things factor in the accuracy of pistols like manufacturing process, grip, trigger pull, ammo etc... but do believe the o-rings also contribute to the accuracy.

 

What role will the pistol play? Carry or home defense? Compact for carry, fullsize for home defense...easy =)

For both. Usually whatever I carry I use for home defense as well. Don't like switching between pistols and chambering and un-chambering a round every time I leave or get home.

 

For me it comes down to what you want to use it for.
Own a HK45c and IMHO it has the advantage for CCW.
Actually shoot a FS HK45 better.
And ended up converting my HK45c to a HK45ct (with suppressor height sights anyway) - LOL!
So go figure.

Bottom line you can't go wrong with either.
If it's just a range gun?
Really prefer my FS USP 45 Tactical over both of those... :wink:

 

I went with the 45c and love it. I’m hoping the new surefire and o lights will fit it. Im also hoping for some better aiwb holster options soon.

 

You mentioned O-Light. Friend of mine picked up an O-light ( unk model ), that I think will set back/around the HK45 trigger guard further than SF & Streamlights? I’m concerned re: the quality of the O-Light? I know they’ve been mentioned on here before, I’m not aware of a documented testing of their quality? If they are of good enough quality, I’d grab one to test my theory re: the set back on the trigger guard....

 

I have only handled the 45, but own the 45C. Both feel great in my hands. Had a chance to trade for the 45C and have not regretted it. Reminds me of my service time.
I use the pistol at the range and generally for home defense, but it carries great in a Vedder with the claw. With the flush mag, it hides well. I expected to be and it is accurate as heck. At home it wears the Streamlight TLR-3 perfectly.

 

I have both and the HK45 has the better grip and might have just a tad less recoil but, if I could have only one, my choice would be the compact due to its versatility. It’s small enough to carry (I carry mine 90% of the time) and the extended mags give you the same capacity as the full size. If you were not planning to carry, it would be a more difficult decision but the desire to carry concealed puts the compact over the top.

 

I have both (German made 2016 examples) and both are great shooters - I am a smaller framed guy so the only difference for me is I don't carry the HK45 fullsize, its just too big for me to be comfortable - the 45C is the same size as my Glock 19 and perfectly comfortable to carry (recommend swapping for flat floorplates on the 8 round mags)

 

If I could only have one or the other, for maximum flexibility, I'd go with 45C. Both are silly reliable and accurate, get both if possible. I have a few of each.

The USP's are all around better designed guns. I've been using them for years without any issues. On the other hand I recently bought a HK 45 and on the very first mag the hammer was following the slide back down. I contacted HK and sent it back, received it back and the problem was not fixed. This happened 3 times. The third time I didn't even leave my office as it was doing it during dry fire. I actually made a quick video and sent it to HK and they replaced the gun. I left the gun at the dealer and put it toward something else. Maybe I just got a lemon, but I wouldn't part with real money for another one any time soon.

 

That is all very suspect, I'm assuming the gun was new in the box when you purchased it? Did you handle the weapon before purchasing it? This is something I would have easily caught in the store before purchasing the gun so that's why I asked, if you purchased it online I would be questioning the seller. It is mechanically impossible for the HK45 to do this in the stock factory condition. I will add since you brought up the USP being a better gun, the HK45 internals are virtually identical to the USP, to the point that they can use the same springs and LEM conversion kits.

 

Bought this for my wife a few years back. It has the LEM and she is just as accurate with this as she was with her 9mm Beretta 92F. For me, the size isn’t that much different so why not get the bigger gun thus higher round capacity

I prefer the full size for all around big bang fun, but don't think I'd could carry one, so why I said 'if could only have one' go with 45c. If just HD and fun, full size feels better, which is hard to say as both shoot silky.

If my mitts fit a USP better, or I'm just partial to batman grips, I'd have one of those. Rented a USP 45 for grins, it's just not as comfortable to hold for me, if my hands were a bit bigger, I'd have one...probably a few.

Really can't go wrong with either...ask yourself 'which should I get first' that way it's an and
