I want to replace the recoil spring on my HK45C after 15,000 rounds.
Do you need a special tool to compress the slotted end of the rod that holds the washer on the end of the spring?
How do you disassemble the end to release the spring and replace it?

Just buy a new one. If you can afford 15,000 rounds of .45 ACP then you can afford a $90 RSA. Less of a headache, too.

There is a special tool in the armorer's manual but there is also a way to replace the spring without it. If you take a small screwdriver and pull the end of the spring over the end washer you can remove the spring by "unscrewing" it. Assembly is just the reverse.
