I know that this horse has practically been beaten to death, but I couldn't find an answer to my exact question in the archives. I have an HK45C Tactical V3 and would like to go to the LEM light. I have personally converted my two USP Compacts (both V1) to LEM light, so I am comfortable doing this myself. Is the only option for me to buy the entire kit? It seems to me that I do not need any of the springs, since I want the light version of the LEM. Also, not having the manual safety on the V3, a person should not need the detent plate or the axle. So do I simply need a LEM hammer and cocking piece? If this is not correct, what parts do I need? Is there a source for them if they are not available at hkparts.net or TGS?

Thanks for the help.

TwoSixy's post shows it's neither time nor cost effective trying to do this with just the parts. There are various spring combinations so you may not use the trigger rebound spring or hammer spring in the kit.

When the kit arrives do the conversion withOUT changing any springs.

That is, put the V3 hammer spring back in the pistol and don't change the trigger rebound spring. The firing pin block spring in the HK45C is the correct spring for Light LEM so do not remove this either.

This will be about as light as you can get although there may be one lighter trigger rebound spring available. I have part 209266 in my HK45C. Same trigger rebound spring specified for Light LEM on my USP9C. My HK45C was a factory conversion and I retrofitted the standard V1 etc hammer spring to get the trigger weight down to a reasonable 5.5 pounds.

You'll need the LEM hammer, cocking piece, cocking piece spring, and hammer axle.

Cocking piece ($29.95) - 219443
Cocking piece spring - 219444
Bobbed hammer ($59.95) - 219452
Hammer axle ($23.95) - 214258
.
Just for the record, it turns out that a person also needs the sear from the kit, making it an even better deal. The LEM sear is different from the V3 and the trigger does not reset properly without it. I know because I assembled it with the original sear and had to take it apart again. :frown:
