I filed stripped my new US made Hk45CT and noticed that the threaded barrel is German made with the ser# 128- & DE on it. I also noticed that the bottom side of the round circle area where the guide rod goes has either "AS" or "A5" scribed into it. Does nyone know what that means?

Hello, my threaded barrel for my HK .45C that I bought thru hkparts.net has the same date code and German stamp. However, mine has a Z5 on it. I am guessing it is a batch number?
and the 45CT do not come with a matching serial # barrel

Not sure about HK45CT this year, since it's now in production, but HK45CT's from 2011, were made for NSW, and didn't come with matching serial numbers.
I had a German CT and it was the same way. Barrels got German serial numbers when they were made, but they didn't match them up. Just an oddity only HK understands.
The barrels are German like everyone says. Just like the US made compacts, they have their German serial numbers on the inside of the ejection port side. The A5 is a factory batch number or machine number that made it. I am glad they are sti made in Germany because of the process they use.
so the A5 or AS is a batch number. I knew the barrel ser# and gun ser# do not match, I was just commenting. So the US plant just makes the slides? I thought it was said tha Germany still makes the frames. Correct?
It's probably something like 80% AR receivers. Send everything over, drill some holes and slap it together "Made in the USA"...

You've got it backwards. The US plant molds the frames and puts he German parts in them. The slides are made in Germany. It was a big deal when they sent the molds to Wilcox, I think I read about it in a online version of a NH newspaper.
Oh ok. Thank you Apollo11.
Very un-Germanic I must say!.......guess that's what happens when you toss a few Yankee's into the lot :D
