I have an early PTR91KF 16" carbine i want to have a few things done. does anyone know of a shop that can do this:

1. weld up a Pic rail on top
2. paddle mag release
3. deepen/recut flutes in the chamber slightly for better ejection of crap surplus ammo (important one) I know Mr. Hart (gwailo) did it for a while but i havent seen him on any boards in a year or two.
4. cut down barrel, thread to 5/8x24 and pin/weld a Griffin Taper Mount brake (overall barrel length with pinned brake should be 16.5") https://www.griffinarmament.com/Griffin-Taper-Mount-Muzzle-Brake-p/tmb.htm

Can't help you but there is $400 in just the rail/paddle work.

It's your rifle and you are obviously free to spend your money anyway you like but a 14.5" barrel on a .308 rifle is pretty ridiculous.

Absent a need to kick in doors....yes it's ridiculous.

But as I said people are free to spend their money as they like.

I have a PTR of the dreaded AW variety that I'd like to have re-fluted.

I have mulled over selling it, but I don't think in good conscious I'd be comfortable passing the buck to someone else.

Any advice is welcome, even if the most cost effective way is to just to buy another. I'm aware that a re-barrel is rather expensive, on top of the cost of the new barrel itself.

Thanks!

can i get specs on that setup buddy? is that the 12.6" g3k bbl? did you build off a virgin receiver?
PTR K3P from Atlantic Firearms. 12.5" barrel. I put a HK handguard, trigger housing, HK Enhanced buffer, G3 stock, HK end cap and a PTR extended cocking handle on it. Think I am $1600 into it without the suppressor.

HK91/G3/PTR gunsmith? Cutting down & threading barrel, recutting flutes, etc...

What is the issue with the flutes?
I have one of the older TC barrels on one of my PTR's. It's a heavy barrel and is super finicky about ammo. I like it as a rifle and it shoots tighter than my profile barreled one. But it has FTF issues.

About once every twenty rounds the round mangles during the feed. With the Bolt essentially crushing the top of it. This is caused by the shallow flutes no?

My understanding is that the flutes aide in extraction by allowing gas to the float the case. They should be shallow, almost nothing, at the rear of the chamber and deeper toward the neck. They should have very little to do with feeding.
