These were made by HKUSA in 2018 to spice up a stagnant post-Trump market. They were not big sellers and the midnight bronze version was the most successful owing to the popularity of that color at that time. HKUSA didn't release records on how many they had painted that way, but it's likely to be 1000 to 1500 in my estimate. If we did a poll of serial numbers it would help narrow that down somewhat. Right now they are fairly easy to find and I've not seen lot of competition to get them. I'd buy it if you like the color. If you want to invest, there are better HKs to spend 5 VP9's worth of cash on.
Right now HK continues to make vp9s with frames in HK Grey, green (I think it's called NATO Green, someone correct me) and RAL7008. There has not been a new OEM slide color that I'm aware of since that run in 2018.
