I bought a used HK45 and I absolutely love this pistol. A friend of mine shot it and liked it so much he purchased one NIB.

Now, After shooting his I noticed that his recoils much softer/smoother than mine, and this got me to thinking.

I have no idea how many rounds were put through my pistol prior to me buyiing it. Recoil springs are cheap so why not replace the spring in mine.

Can someone explain to me how to replace the spring on the guide rod?

I know someone has done it, but it is not obvious to me how the recoil spring assy. comes apart.

Thanks

Fox hound, Thanks for the heads up on the Armors manual...After you mentioned it I tried Google but it kept bringing up Owners manuals. I may give HK a call.

azimuth, I looked a little closer and I see what captures the retainer now. Any idea if the rod is a spring steel or after you pinch the forked end will you have to "pry" the forks back into place?
