Is there any easy/short way to remove the control lever on a V1 HK45 temporarily? I need to sand the back of the lever a little as it's scrapping up the frame's plastic, but am hesitant with removing lots of little pieces to do it. I'm hoping I can just pull it out and push it back in after; kind of how removal of the slide release lever is.

Thanks!

The removal of the safety lever is much more detailed than the slide release lever. It requires several steps, which I am to lazy to list. As far as the safety/decock lever wearing into the slide. This is common and i have USP's and HK45 series pistols doing the same thing. They are kind of like the AK47 safety in that regard.

It'll be sort of like a LEM installation. Not a 1-2 step and you're done.

In a nutshell, you'll:
- Remove lanyard pin + lanyard loop + hammer spring + hammer strut
- Remove sear axle + sear + catch + control latch + disconnector
- Remove detent plate and turn the control lever to 12-o'clock position
- Depress on the slide plate then remove the control lever

I just did this yesterday, when I swapped the hammer out, I had to remove the control lever. Twosixy walked me through it, and he knows his S*** (stuff), just follow the steps, it looks intimidating, but if you watch what you take out ( digital photos big help of each step), it is pretty obvious how it goes back in. You do need a prick punch (2.5 mm), and a small plastic or brass hammer. I was scared like you, but do dove in anyway, and am glad I did. You can do it, its not too bad.
