Seen lots of TV footage showing G3s in the sand. They must work pretty good.

Most of the G3s that we found in Iraq were crap… mostly due to poor maintaining by the user. The Iranian G3 is nowhere near as refined as an original HKG3. Having said that, the one wall hanger we did have was in good shape, fired it a few times at the range, nothing really special. It functioned well dirty (sandy) on the range, but again, this was only one example of a better the avg. quality Iranian G3. One thing to keep in mind… no matter how well a weapon is made, if it is not maintained in that environment it won’t work.
