for a non hk handgun owner, what is LEM?
It's a type of DAO trigger system that uses a pre-cocked mainspring and is unique to HK.

That's the idea. My other USPc had LEM on it already, and I never wanted to shoot my DA/SA USPc anymore. I don't really mind my DA/SA Sigs though. I'm kinda sad that my P30 is not officially convertible... I'm toying with the idea of doing the unofficial conversion, anyway.

its a different animal. a DA trigger with the feel and reset of an SA. or an SA trigger with its hammer always down. Holy grail indeed!. Haha
some hate the long take up for the first shot, but you simply get through that and its essentially an SA. it even helps prepping for an accurate shot in my opinion, think 2-stage sniper triggers. you dont pull through it like a DA. sort of like trigger safety without an ugly tongue sticking out, and with a hammer. once you shoot it, the reset is reasonably short, only needing to go all the way back if you let go of it for a mag change or to reholster. you have to experience it to fully understand this unique system (or at least i had to)
congraulations tesserac. i was also sooooo intimidated with that at first. but it becomes easier as u do it again. i polished my sear and cocking piece contact point, then later added a nickel flat spring. its not anymore a fraction as hard as it seemed at first i realized.
